MEC Paddlefest Ottawa 2015
**STORM PROTOCOL: MEC Ottawa Paddlefest is a rain or shine event!
In the event of a storm warning - All activities take place within easy reach of the shoreline (no more than 100m).
In the event of lightning - 1) ALL participants/instructors to return to shore with all reasonable haste - 2) Evacuation of the water will be signaled by the safety kayak blasting an air horn - 3) All participants/instructors stay on shore for duration of weather event - 4) Activities can resume 30 minutes after last sign of thunder/lightning.**

You can spend the day hunting for deals on gear at the MEC Paddleswap, browsing vendor booths, going for a test paddle (there will be demo boats available to try from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm), and participating in clinics both on land and on the water. MEC Paddlefest provides opportunities to connect with local paddling groups and gear up so you are prepared to continue having fun on the water all summer long. With hands-on clinics for kids as well as adults, Paddlefest is great for the whole family so don’t forget to save the date and join us for a day of floating!

Gear heads and thifty shoppers will find the best deals on previously-loved watersports and hiking/camping equipment at the MEC Paddleswap which will run from 9:00 am to Noon. Call 613-729-2700 and ask for the Member Service Desk to reserve a table and sell your gear or just come on by and do some shopping!
The MEC market place will feature the small items you need for a day on the water, don't make the trip to MEC, come along a grab a water bottle or some sun screen at paddlefest.
**PADDLESWAP AND MARKET PLACE ARE CASH ONLY**
Mooney's Bay Park can be found where the Rideau River and the Rideau Canal meet at Hog's Back. It is easily accessible by cycling, walking, or bussing (check out OC Transpo's Travel Planner). Driving is also an option and there is pay parking at the facility.
Hungry? The Beach House Bistro at Mooney's Bay will be open on Paddlefest day for anyone looking to purchase food and refreshments.
