You’re just one knot-tying clinic away from being the most useful person at your campsite. Learn 6 basic knots to help you attach ropes together, set up tarps above your picnic table, and cinch down canoes. Plus, it means no more messy tight knots that you can’t undo (thank goodness).

Skill level: beginner

Format: hands-on, small group class

You’ll learn

  • Sheet bend (weaver’s knot)
  • Square knot
  • Clove hitch
  • Bowline
  • Figure 8
  • Trucker’s hitch
  • Different types of ropes to choose from
  • Static vs. dynamic rope
  • How to care for rope and when to retire it

Who’s teaching the clinic?

Our clinics are taught by friendly MEC staffers who are ready to answer any questions and share all the stuff they love about being outside. Everyone’s welcome!
