Join the ACC Toronto Section at Respect the Mountains

Saturday, June 15th , 2019

The ACC Toronto Section will be participating in an ACC National Event called Respect the Mountains on June 15th and is looking for volunteers to help out. A free lunch will be provided to all participants.

Events will take place across all sections of the ACC on June 15th, 2019.  The ACC Toronto Section will be participating in a tree planting and trail clean up at Kelso Park in Milton.  Kelso has had to remove a number of ash trees over the last few years and note that their forest is looking a bit bare.  

The Respect the Mountains is a UIAA initiative which forms part of the UIAA’s long standing commitment to sustainability and mountain protection.  It aims at:

Raising awareness about sustainable environmental and socio-cultural practices.

Setting an example and spreading the word within the outdoor community

Preserving mountain eco-systems and cultures in their natural state for future generations

Promoting sustainable mountain recreations, sports and related tourism activities

Educating the next generation of mountain explorers and empowering them to be effective sustainable future mountaineers.

We hope you can join us at Kelso for the Toronto Section’s contribution to this initiative.

All trees and equipment will be provided.  Bring yourself and your personal items (lunch, water, sunscreen, bug repellent, and gloves (if desired).  

Meeting location and times will be provided via email to the volunteer list.  Please contact Pia Thurlow by June 5, 2019 to volunteer  at or text to 416-939-8316 (after 5pm only) to join.  

Everyone will need to sign the standard ACC waiver as this is a club event.  

ACC volunteer points will be credited to your account for this event.  Amount of points is TBD.
