The Forces of Nature; Gaia’s Child is now available for download on multiple platforms, free of charge! A book seeking to inspire and encourage people to connect with nature and to go outdoors, on their own terms, The Forces of Nature is an illustrated story by a group of young Canadians for other young Canadians. Having worked on this publication for over a year, The Poison and The Apple is proud to show you the fruits of their labour.

We would like to invite you to celebrate this incredible moment with us in Montréal! In a location as magical as that of the book, this book launch will take place at Mont Réel, a space born of cross-cultural collaboration with sustainable and environmental ethics strongly integrated into its very structure. With our partners, Coureurs Montréal RunnersAnthony Amseland MEC, we are offering you an evening filled with fun activities and games, all free! We hope to see you there!

The Forces of Nature was inspired by the work of the Canadian Parks Council and their efforts to rebrand nature as being for everyone; MEC and their vision to make the outdoors accessible for everyone; and Ocean Bridge and their mission to protect the oceans. We were sponsored by MEC Outdoor Nation, Ocean Wise’s Ocean Bridge, TakingITGlobal and the Government of Canada.

CHÚK ODENIGBO

Discipline:Outdoor Nation Ambassador

Écrivain

Proud Franco-Albertan, Chúk is incredibly passionate about the links between public health and the environment. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Medical Geography after completing studies in both public health and environmental chemistry.

Having a particularly varied professional background, Chúk collaborated with the Canadian Parks Council in writing The Nature Playbook, a call to action encouraging all Canadians to get outside and connect with nature in their own way. The book offers a plethora of different ways to do it in the hopes that we can connect a new generation with nature. He was also an environmental scientist in the oil and gas sector in Alberta and director of sustainable development at CF Chinook Centre’s Club Monaco.

Chúk was named one of the Top 30 Under 30 Players for Change by the Alberta Council for Global Cooperation in 2017, and is one of the top ten young Franco-Albertan leaders as listed by ICI Alberta (French version of CBC). He is also a part of the first ever Ocean Bridge cohort, a national team of Canadians put together by Ocean Wise to lead projects that address the health of Canada’s oceans.

“There are countless ways to get closer to nature, and it’s important that everyone creates this connection in their own way. I hope we value the diversity of our interests and the means we use to link them to the outdoors. I believe that the outdoor industry can be a leader in this area.”
