MEC Love Floats Pride Paddle
MEC Love Floats Pride Paddle
Everyone is Welcome!
Join MEC as we celebrate Pride Week with a fabulous morning on the high seas. Love Floats is our opportunity to celebrate our LGBTQ2S+ community and allies, and show that the outdoors are for everyone!
Assemble your flotilla of friends and family, and join us for a morning on the water. We will assemble on Willow's Beach and paddle out for a morning of pride festivities. Paddle out by canoe, kayak, or paddleboard towards Kohweechella Island and meet other LGBTQ2S+ and allies who love to adventure and create community through good times outside. If the views from the island aren't enough to dazzle you, then the glittering performances from some of Victoria's renowned drag artists surely will.
Upon returning to Willow's Beach, we will kick off MEC Paddlefest Victoria, with plenty of watersport clinics and activities for the whole family - chosen or otherwise.
Wondering what to bring? Category is: Aquatic Fabulousness. Come dressed to thrill and show your true colours with a decorated boat or outfit (a pfd/lifejacket must be incorporated).
If you have your own watercraft and gear, great! A limited number of canoes, kayaks, or paddleboards, will be available as free demos.

Meet Victoria's renowned drag artists
Honey Dewme's career started when Sears filed for bankrupcy. Heartbroken by the news, she decided to channel her inner emotions in art and become a drag queen. Taking inspiration from glittery disco down the Hudson Bay Clearance section, this fruity lady is currently planning her Canada-wide solo tour (coming soon to a 7-eleven parking lot near you)
Persi Flage is Victoria's femme king, dance dance revolutionary anti-hero. Off-stage, he's manager of Staches and Lashes Collective, putting on shows and programs for and with kids and youth. His philosophy for the day is all mutiny is good mutiny! Please show him how to paddle safely!
Vivian Vanderpuss Take a walk in nature with Victoria's self-appointed premier Cat Mom and taco enthusiast. Feel the cool ocean breeze pass you by while listening to the robust cackles of a queen in her element. Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, Vivian Vanderpuss will have you grinning from ear to ear and thinking, "are heels SUP safe?"
Our mission at MEC is to inspire and enable all Canadians to lead active, outdoor lifestyles.
