Wilderness & Remote First Aid (WRFA) with CPR/AED - C - May17
Wilderness and Remote First Aid (WRFA) is a nationally recognized course offered by the Canadian Red Cross. It is an experiential hands on course with lots of opportunities for scenario based learning and discussion. It is designed for individuals who will be participating in wilderness or remote activities within hours or days of advanced medical care. Examples of remote areas include hiking trails, camps and cottages, summer camps - anywhere that it would take longer than half an hour for responders to a 911 call to arrive.
This course will enable participants to have an appreciation for the realities of providing first aid in a wilderness and remote environment. Emphasis will be on decision making, leadership, practical skills, and coping well with outdoor environmental challenges. The course will take place almost entirely outside rain or shine so please come prepared for the weather and enjoying lots of time outdoors. We have a lot of fun with the scenarios and follow-up discussions. Discussion and questions are encouraged.
