This in-store, free clinic will introduce you to the basics of snowshoes, snowshoeing, what to wear, and where to start. Join #mecstaffer and avid outdoorsman, George A., who will help you with the basics and answer your questions so you can explore and enjoy the winter outdoors. This clinic will cover:

Choosing snowshoes:

  • Different types of snowshoes (flat terrain, trails, mountainous regions, running)
  • Sizing
  • Decking material
  • Binding adjustments
  • Required footwear
  • Pole options

What to wear:

  • Dressing for winter, whether on lower trails or breezy mountain tops
  • Dressing in layers
  • Outer layer choices to protect against precipitation and wind
  • Essentails for head, neck, hands, feet
  • Researching weather and terrain conditions

Trail tips:

  • Leave no trace principles
  • Etiquette (e.g. staying off groomed cross-country ski tracks)
