We'll start with a short hike to an off-trail location with beautiful mountain views and from there you'll learn all sorts of pro tips and tricks! You'll get your own Outdoor Essentials Kit which is packed full of goodies to get you started including a tarp and ropes to build your own survival shelter.
You'll learn fire making skills as you build your own and then cook your lunch over it. Enjoy your hot chocolate and marshmallows as you learn survival tips and practical applications from Search and Rescue. With over 9 years of experience as Search Manager, instructor and Team Leads your local guides will share real Search and Rescue stories and you'll learn practical ways to stay found if you ever get off track. Having seen many situations where inexperience has gotten people into trouble Shauna and Lisa love passing on the essential skills needed to have confidence and know exactly what to do if something happens.
As certified hiking guides in the Rocky Mountains with 18 years experience Shauna and Lisa will also go over essential skills like dealing with wildlife, basic map reading, setting up a proper backcountry camp, useful plants, how to avoid hypothermia, knots, and strategies to be comfortably dressed in all conditions so you can thrive in the natural environment.
Since your local guides are all about having fun, they'll also capture pics of you throughout the day and send them your way after its done! Enjoy a new side of the outdoors and feel confident as you walk away with the knowledge and experience to survive and thrive in the outdoors. This is a full day adventure and is specifically designed for those just starting out in the outdoors at all fitness levels, including families with kids 12+ years! This adventure is offered year round and is tailored for the conditions in each season.
