For the second year in a row, MEC Calgary is stoked to offer a CX Race!
We are excited to be hosting this event at a great central location, Confederation Park. With lots of hills and open spaces, we are excited about the possibilities this venue offers. This course is both challenging and fun.
New to the sport? Don't be discouraged by the competitive side. We have categories for recreation riders so sign up & come out for a fun day of riding. Here is what you can expect:
A lots of grass mixed with some fun features mixed with technical single track trails.
Riders will encounter roots, tight turns and fun, flowy downhill.
Of course there will be some obstacles to carry your bike over

Registration for all Categories will be $35.
There will be NO race day registrations.
Registration closes on August 30th, 2018

This is an Alberta Bicycle Association sanctioned race so all riders must have valid UCI License to compete.
Single Event Licenses (SEL) can be purchased at a cost of $10 for anyone without an ABA/UCI Race License. This can be done at the time of registration.
*Note: You are only allowed 2 SELs per year from any discipline. A SEL allows a rider to compete only in the Citizen Category
Racer sign on will be held under the ABA tent on race day.
Sign on closes 30min before your start time, and opens at 8:30AM. Please be considerate and if you are not racing until the later start, let the earlier start times sign up first.
This event will be run according to ABA/UCI regulations. Riders are responsible to know and understand these rules. They are available online here.
All riders must use a race numbers that comply with UCI regulations. Such numbers are available from your home track. Please bring your 2018 race numbes with you. If this is your first race of the season, the ABA will provide you with numbers on race day.
All riders must sign-in, pick up and attach their number numbers, big number on the back, small numbers on your shoulders. Staging refers to the specific time that each category will be getting lined up and ready to race. Please make sure the number numbers are visible at the start and end of the race.
Bib number pick-up will be a available on Race Day only.
**All single event license holders are required to race in the Citizen Class race category corresponding to their age and gender. Citizen Class race categories will be split into the outlined age/gender groups and will race in Novice categories

Note: Staging for each category will start five minutes prior to the scheduled race time
Pre-riding will be available prior to start times, when there are no categories racing on course.
Important Notice: The ABA and event organizers may shorten races and/or alter the course dependant on weather, time delays and/or combine categories if necessary.
Medals will be awarded in each category for first, second and third place.
There are about 60 parking stalls at the main parking lot at Rosemont Community Association, 20 across 10th street and a fair bit of street parking along 10th Street.
If you need medical assistance, please find a marshal on course who can call for medical support, or head to the Start/Finish line where a certified first aid responder with a fully stocked first aid kit can treat you. Should the injury be severe in nature, but non-life threatening (like broken bones), the nearest hospital is the Foothills Hospital.
For all emergency first aid situations, call 9-1-1 immediately.
We do NOT have a secure bag check, however, we will have a large tent by our registration tables to store your belongings.
Detach the bottom portion of your bib and attach to your bag for identification.
We are not responsible for any damaged, lost, or stolen items.
BIKES AND EQUIPMENT:
All your equipment needs to be in good, safe working condition and you must wear an approved bike helmet at all times.
The ABA complies with and fully supports the UCI anti-doping regulations, the clauses of the World Anti-doping Code and its international Standards to which the UCI anti-doping regulations refer and to the anti-doping regulations of other competent bodies as per the regulations of the UCI.
