MEC Greater Vancouver: Trail Race TWO, 15K/50K is back for it's fourth year! This ultra will literally take you from sea to sky with over 2200m elevation gain - expect to have sore legs! Looking for something a little less mountainous Sign up for the 15K route for a course that will take you from ocean to dam (Cleveland Dam). Runners will experience a fun and welcoming race atmosphere complete with professional chip timing, complimentary coffee, fresh fruit and free post-race massages by the professionals at QubeCore Sports & Rehab!

UPDATE: As of May 25, 2019 this event has reached the permit maximum number of runners and no new registrations will be accepted.  We look forward to seeing you at our next event!

The event site is at Ambleside Park (1150 Marine Drive).

Getting there

The entrance to Ambleside Park is located at the foot of 13th Street.

There are bus stops at the park’s edge as well – please consult Translink schedules for arrival and departure times.

Sustainability

Help us keep our races green by bringing your own water bottle. (Compostable cups and on-site recycling and composting will also be provided.)

All waste from the event is handsorted post-race and recycled, composted or disposed of accordingly.

Our events are powered with electric power from Portable Electric to reduce our carbon footprint.

Post-Race Food

All ultra runners will get a complimentary refueling meal after the race.

50K

Approximately 2245m elevation gain

Aid Stations:

Aid Stations will be stocked with water and electrolyte, fruit, candy, pretzels, potatoes. If you prefer something special, we suggest that you carry it with you or leave it in your drop bag (accessible at 27km and 33km)

Aid Station #1  ~ 8K    Cleveland Dam

Aid Station #2 ~ 15K   Mountain Highway (6th switchback just up from top of St. George's trail)

Aid Station #3 ~ 27K LSCR Gazebo *Bag Drop*

Aid Station #4 ~ 33K   LSCR Gazebo *Cut off @ 2:30pm* *Bag Drop*

Aid Station #5 ~ 44K   Cleveland Dam *Cut off @4:15pm*

Please note: 50K runners are not able to have family or friends provide additional support (including hydration and nutrition) on the route.  Your friends and family are welcome to come support you at Aid Station #3/4 (LSCR Gazebo).   

 

Cut offs:

2:30pm at Aid Station #4 (Gazebo after Richard Juryn section in Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve).

Runners who do not make it to Aid Station 4 before 2:30pm will entered as DNF and be offered a ride back to Ambleside Park.

4:15pm at Aid Station #5 (Cleveland Dam returning from Grouse Mountain)

Runners who do not make it to Aid Station 5 before 4:15pm will entered as DNF and be offered a ride back to Ambleside Park.

If at any point and time a runner decides they cannot continue they MUST report to an aid station and notify staff.

 

15K

Approximately 370m elevation gain

There will be 3 aid stations for the 15k run with water and electrolyte.

Race Volunteers (pre-race, race, and post race opportunities available!)

We need an army of volunteers to cover the all distance in this great ultra! We'd love to have your help either as an individual or a group! We are looking for volunteers to help with course marking, marshalling, registration, aid station help, pre-sweeper and post-sweepers and support at the event site! Know someone who wants to come cheer you on and give out high-fives? Volunteering with the MEC events team is a blast.

NSMBA (North Shore Mountain Bike Association) is a volunteer driven non-profit organization dedicated to caring for a sustainable trail network within the community. Some of the trails that we will be running in this race are maintained by NSMBA, so let's give back and do our part to help keep them in great condition! Volunteer with NSMBA for fun trail maintenance opportunities!

RACE RESULTS

We’ll have live unofficial race results within one hour of runners crossing the finish line at the results station. Official standings will be posted on the Trio Sports Events site as well as this page within two business days of the event. Be sure to check back!

We’ll be giving out medals to the top three male and female finishers in each distance category (no age categories awards).
