Join MEC Barrie for a fun and friendly race on Saturday May 11th 2019 at Tree Nursery Sports Park in Springwater Township. A fantastic trail race through Springwater Sports Park! Get chip-timed results, bananas, and unlimited high-fives from stoked MEC members and staff. 

Our inclusive race will provide a little something for every racer - get out for a fun run with friends, bring a first-timer, or challenge yourself and your PB. 


ONLINE REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED.  We will only acccept registrations on the following dates: 

Friday May 10th - in store between 11:00am and 7:00pm

Saturday May 11th - race day registration is cash only and and is available from 7:30–8:45am on May 11th at the registration tent.

To help avoid line-ups on race day, please pick up your bib ahead of time by coming into the store on Friday May 10th between 11:00am and 7:00pm. Package pick up deal: Get 10% off purchases you make in store when pick up your race package.

The event site is located near the Township offices.

Getting there

There is lots of parking onsite, but as always, MEC encourages participants to carpool to the site.


Help us keep our races green by bringing your own water bottle. (Compostable cups and on-site recycling and composting will also be provided.)


Route maps are not currently available as official mapping does not exist for the site. 

This is a TRAIL race and will be on varying technical terrian - a combination of single and double track, rocks, roots, some sand, mud is possible and a few steady climbs of about 100m at approximately a 15 degree incline.

There will be aid stations located approximately every 2.5K. All water stations will be equipped with MEC’s electrolyte partner nuun hydration.  nuun is high in electrolytes, yet low in sugar to keep you optimally hydrated throughout the race. Check out nuun products on

Join MEC and Salomon for a FREE Salomon How to Trail Run (HTTR) Clinic a week before the race on Saturday May 4th. This free workshop will cover skills to improve your trail running techniques. Whether you're a new or seasoned trail runner, this clinic is for you! Space is limisted so secure your spot by registering. The link to register can be found here


We’ll have live unofficial race results within one hour of runners crossing the finish line at the results station. Official standings will be posted on the Speed River Timing site within two business days of the event. Be sure to check back!

We’ll be giving out medals to the top three male and female finishers in each distance category (no age categories awards).
