Learn to run a fun and safe 5K over a ten week period. The next Walk to 5K ten week clinic runs from September 20th to November 22nd, weekly on Thursday evenings 6:30pm to 7:30pm. Registrants are welcome to sign-up until the fourth week of the course (October 11th).
This ten week clinic will guide you through a fun and safe progression of walking and running with the aim of confidently preparing you to complete a 5K run. Weekly sessions will consist of a 15 minute talk followed by a specifically prescribed workout. Rachel D (@rundigsleep), an MEC Toronto Event Support Staff member will be leading the clinics, adding a great deal of knowledge and experience on the aspects of running.
The clinic will take place every Thursday evening from: Thursday, September 20th through to Thursday, November 22nd.
Clinic time is 6:30pm to 7:30pm.
Please meet on time at the MEC Toronto Store (400 King Street West) Member Service Desk, located just inside the store. Ask a friendly staff member for assistance if needed.
A training program will be provided to you at the first session outlining the entire training program complete with dates, weekly distances totals, lecture topics, and scheduled homework runs.

Injury Prevention & Stretching
Heart Rate Training
- Dress appropriately for each clinic; consider rain, temperature and day light.
- There are washrooms and change rooms located in the store
- It is recommended to bring the following:
- Water Bottle / Hydration Belt
- Head Lamp (if day light is minimal
