Patagonia presents Blue Heart
The Fight for Europe's Last Wild Rivers
MEC Kitchener and Together We're Better Co-operative Brewing co-host a free film screening of Patagonia's new documentary, Blue Heart: The Fight for Europe's Last Wild Rivers.
Join us at MEC Kitchener on July 7th for a screening of the film, followed by a talk with a representitive from the Grand River Conservation Authority, outlining their work with our waterways and the future of dams on the Grand River watershed.
The film follows looks at the Balkan region-righly diverse in cultures, languages and history- home to the last wild rivers on the European continent. The film looks at the hydropower gold rush in the region, with more than 3,000 hydropower dams and diversions either proposed or in the process of being built in the Balkans, which would be in addition to the more than 1,000 that already exist. These dams will cause irreversible damage to rivers, wildlife and local communities.
This is a 19+ event as beer and wine will be available for purchase along with some of our favorite movie theatre snacks! Please bring your own glass and help us keep this event green. Seating is not assigned.
