The century ride is now full. There will be no on the day registrations beyond our 200 registered riders. Thanks for your interest, we will be back in 2015 with a bigger event!
Registered riders, please park at the arena.
Welcome to the first edition of the annual MEC Ottawa century ride. With the start/finish situated in Carp (just to the west of Ottawa) enjoy these inexpensive, but fully featured rides through beautiful Ontario countryside in Lanark County. Welcome to Ottawa’s riding country!
For a charge of only $35, you can choose between three different ride options, 55km, 100km and an 80km ride on gravel roads AND have a feast afterwards at one of the hottest cycling locations in the Ottawa region!
The gravel route features a mix of pavement and gravel country roads.
Before your ride
Enjoy a coffee while you grab a few extra Clif Bars for your time on the road, check the route maps, fill your bidons and socialize. Have an MEC mechanic give your bike a quick once over.
During your ride
All routes are on fantastic quiet country roads, stop in at the aid station on your route (one on each route) to pick up some more refreshments or get some basic mechanical assistance.
Relax…we will have a vehicle, kindly provided by VRTUCAR
, following the route to offer major mechanical assistance and you will have a number to call in case of emergency too.
After your ride
Rehydrate and refuel: Join us at Carp’s own fantastic Alice’s Village Café
for a back yard shindig. Enjoy a gourmet pulled pork sandwich with delicious fresh salads (veggie options too!) and a refreshing pint of Beau's All Natural Brewing Co
beer, all included in the $35 ride price!
**Please bring government issued ID for beer service**
Check the routes:
80km Gravel (Route mostly unsupported:water & snacks in one spot approx half way, MEC rider on course, first aid only a phone call away...)
The ride will benefit the Friends of Huntley Highlands to support their preservation of natural areas in the Carp area for conservation, recreation, and the mutual benefit of human and wildlife communities.
Thank you to Alice's Village Cafe and to Beau's All Natural Brewing Co. for thier generous support.

Our rides will begin in informal waves of approx 10 riders, 2 minutes apart. First wave departs at 9am.
This is a ride, not a race. Participants ride at their own pace (provided they exceed a minimum average of 15km/h), must obey all traffic regulations and route signage and are responsible for riding safely and under control.
Riders are responsible for keeping their bike in working order and should come equipped to fix minor issues like flat tires. Some mechanical assistance will be available for more serious issues, but it will not necessarily be timely.
