For the first time ever, MEC is proud to present the Labour Day Classic CX Race.
We have a brand new venue at Gold Bar Park on the north end of Edmonton.
Riders will encounter roots, tight turns and fun, flowy downhill.
Of course there will be some obstacles to carry your bike over

Registration for all Categories will be $30.
There will be NO race day registrations.
Registration closes on Friday August 31st, 2018
Please note that all registrations are non-refundable, and non-transferable
Single Event Licenses (SEL) can be purchased at a cost of $10 for anyone without an ABA/UCI Race License. This can be done at the time of registration.
*Note: You are only allowed 2 SELs per year from any discipline. A SEL allows a rider to compete only in the Citizen Category
Racer sign on will be held under the ABA tent on race day.
Sign on closes 30min before your start time, and opens at 8:30AM. Please be considerate and if you are not racing until the later start, let the earlier start times sign up first.
This event will be run according to ABA/UCI regulations. Riders are responsible to know and understand these rules. They are available online here.
If you do not have your cross numbers, they will be given out at licence check. Race numbers must not be folded or modified.
- One on front of each shoulder
- Large body number at lower back on jersey
- Please use these numbers for the rest of the cross season
All riders must sign-in, pick up and attach their number plate prior to staging. Staging refers to the specific time that each category will be getting lined up and ready to race.
**All single event license holders are required to race in the Citizen Class race category corresponding to their age and gender. Citizen Class race categories will be split into the outlined age/gender groups and will race in Novice categories

9:30 am - Novice Men 40min
10:30 am - Sport Women 40min
11:30 am - Sport Men 40min
12:30pm - Awards for Novice Men, Sport Men, and Sport Women
12:20pm - 12:55pm Course Open for pre-riding
1:00pm - Expert Men 50min
2:05 pm - Open Women 40min
3:00 pm - Open Men 60min
4:10 pm Awards for Expert Men, Open Men, and Open Women
The course will be open during the scheduled times and between races at the Commissaire’s discretion. The ABA and the organizer may shorten races and/or alter the course dependent on weather, time delays and/or combine categories if necessary. Please know your start time.
** As with all Cyclocross races on city property, the race may be cancelled due to weather **
Please note this is a preliminary route and will be updated once the course designer has finished.
Medals will be awarded in each category for first, second and third place.
There are about 190 parking stalls at the main parking lot. Please do not park on the park road, as bylaw officers will ticket your vehicle.
Additional parking is located at Capilano Park located on the west side of 50th street. Additional parking is also available in Rundle Park, with access across the Gold Bar footbridge.
If you need medical assistance, please find a marshal on course who can call for medical support, or head to the Start/Finish line where a certified first aid responder with a fully stocked first aid kit can treat you. Should the injury be severe in nature, but non-life threatening (like broken bones), the nearest hospital is the Royal Alexandra Hospital located on 10240 Kingsway NW.
For all emergency first aid situations, call 9-1-1 immediately.
We do NOT have a secure bag check, however, we will have a large tent by our registration tables to store your belongings.
Detach the bottom portion of your bib and attach to your bag for identification.
We are not responsible for any damaged, lost, or stolen items.
BIKES AND EQUIPMENT:
All your equipment needs to be in good, safe working condition and you must wear an approved bike helmet at all times.
The ABA complies with and fully supports the UCI anti-doping regulations, the clauses of the World Anti-doping Code and its international Standards to which the UCI anti-doping regulations refer and to the anti-doping regulations of other competent bodies as per the regulations of the UCI.
