Halifax Citadel National Historic Site
Course Description: Runners will experience varied terrain as they run through the Halifax Citadel’s parade square, perimeter road, sidewalks, and optional grass adjact to sidewalk.
There is street parking along the perimitter as well as Metro Transit routes that will be able to drop you off near the site. Biking is also a great way to warm up before a race!
There will be no parking on site at Halifax Citadel and the road will be closed to traffic.
Help us keep our races green by bringing your own water bottle. (Compostable cups and on-site recycling and composting will also be provided.)
Start: We will start inside the Halifax Citadel, and begin our race by making a loop of the Cavalier building, exiting the square, and turning left towards the commons.
Loops: Begin by heading down the hill towards the commons, with everyone completing a deep “U” in the the parking lot as indicated below. 5K runs this loop twice, 10K four times.
Finish: After finishing the required amount of loops, turn back to the start, and back around the Cavalier building as you enter the fort. The exact reverse of how you began the course.
Average gps distance: 5.6km for the 5k route, 10.3 for the 10km route. Will try to measure out 5.0/10.3 by Sunday.
