MEC Bikefest Ottawa - Group Ride: WAIT LIST Gatineau Park Loop
ONLINE REGISTRATION FOR THIS RIDE HAS CLOSED. 6 OF 8 PLACES REMAINED AT 4 PM ON MAY 10.
Ride departs from Byron Park, snaking through our local neighbourhood before crossing the Ottawa river via the generous bike path on the Island Park Bridge. Across the river on the Quebec side, we will head east along the bike path before heading up into Gatineau Park. At the Gamelin (P3) parking we will join the Gatineau Parkway riding north via the North Loop and Fortune to the highest point of the area at the Champlain Lookout.
After a moment to catch your breath and have a snack, enjoy the sweeping descents down Black Lake on the Champlain Parkway before retracing your pedal strokes to Bikefest.
This is the most advanced and longest ride of Bikefest. It requires a higher level of fitness to complete and will take in excess of 3 hours.
Ride distance: 60km
Average pace: 25 km/h
Prerequisites: This is a road bike ride. MEC rides are unsupported, so you must be prepared to deal with any minor mechanical issues that may occur, such as a flat tire. Please make sure your bike is in proper working order well before the ride. If you're not sure, bring it in to MEC during regular store hours for a free safety inspection. Our mechanics will inspect it, consult with you, and if it needs service, determine the best package value for your bike's condition.
You must wear an approved helmet and sign a waiver before joining our ride.
All of our rides are no-drop rides. We will go out of our way to make sure that no rider will be left behind.
