MEC Burlington Century Ride May 13, 2017 event has been rescheduled to September 17, 2017 due to flooding and route issues.

We have been working diligently with the City Of Hamilton to find solutions to the re-routing issue due to road closures from flooding. The heavy spring rains have caused issues with flooding and erosion thought Hamilton and Halton. As some of you may know the main corridors leading from Hamilton are York Boulevard/Old Guelph Rd or King and Main St West.

King and Main streets are very busy corridors and not suitable for a large group ride. The route we intended to use was York Boulevard/Old Guelph Rd, but due to flooding & road closures on York Road, Old Guelph Rd has become the traffic re-route. We have decided with both the City of Hamilton and Hamilton Police services that this event could put cyclists at risk of riding on high traffic roads. Our first concern with MEC events is the safety and enjoyment of the participants.

Regular Price: $40

Day of Registration: $50 (Exact Cash Only)

Welcome to the MEC Burlington Century Ride! This is a one day road cycling adventure on an open course for people who are passionate about their active lifestyles.  For only $50 you can choose between a 50km or 100km ride that will take you throughout our beautiful escarpment. There will be marshals and directional signs along the course, rest stops complete with replenishments, electrolytes, and a bike mechanic for minor repairs.  Special thanks to Trike and 'bent for hosting one of our aid stations again this year! The ride will start at 9:00am, RAIN OR SHINE.  Upon finishing, celebrate your accomplishment with lunch & Nicklebrook Beer at Arts & Science, a craft brewery near the waterfront in Hamilton. Relax and bask in the glory of a ride well done with the camaraderie of other riders at the Après Ride.

Well marked, smooth roads for a safe, enjoyable ride.

  • Finish area Après Ride
  • Rest stations – water, nourishment & restrooms.
  • Mechanical and Medical support at rest stations.
  • MEC mechanics will be available for any last minute pre ride adjustments.

The route will be open to other users, so we advise caution while out on the road.  RULES OF THE ROAD MUST BE OBEYED.  All road signs and intersection markings or signals must be adhered to without exception.  Riders need to be self-sufficient along the ride – pack appropriate clothing, spare tube, pump and patch kit, food and water if you feel you’ll need extra nourishment between aid stations.
