FEATURE PARTNER - The Peak Centre for Human Performance

The Peak Centre for Human Performance is Canada's leader in individualized training solutions.  Through qualitative individual analysis the Peak Centre has the unique ability to provide a specific fitness evaluation and the appropriate solution in an effort to maximize the benefits of your training time.  The Peak Centre provides each client with an individualized assessment which takes into account personal health/fitness/performance goals as well as specific activity requirements.  We precisely measure current fitness through blood lactate and metabolic analysis to provide heart rate and power training zones, VO2max, resting metabolic rate and optimal fat burning intensity. Our team of exercise physiologists will explain the results and provide recommendations to optimize training based on your individual physiology and goals.  Our aim is to ensure that training time is spent at the most effective intensity to avoid wasted training hours.

Services:

  • Blood Lactate Analysis (run/bike/row) - $145
    • Determines precise individual aerobic training zones
    • Training Zones expressed in heart rates and either watts or speed/pace
    • Energy Usage Analysis – Determines fat & carbohydrate use at each intensity
    • Individual Consultation with one of our exercise physiologists to explain the science of training, what the results mean and how you can use them to improve your training
  • VO2max, Blood Lactate and Energy Usage Analysis (run/bike/row) - $195
    • As Blood Lactate Assessment
    • VO2max Measurement
    • Metabolic Efficiency
    • Carbohydrates and Fat Utilization at each training zone
  • Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) and Body Composition Analysis - $160
    • RMR is the amount of energy (measured in calories) your body uses at rest for the functioning organs.  Knowing how many calories your body needs in a day is essential to weight loss. With most calorie restrictive diets, the body will shed a combination of muscle and fat.  As the body loses muscle your daily caloric requirement drops.  Most diets fail in the end because losing good weight (muscle mass), and the resulting decrease in your daily caloric requirement, makes it increasingly difficult to keep the weight off when you return to a normal caloric intake.
    • The RMR provides a baseline that can be combined with the number of calories burned during daily activity and exercise to accurately modify your nutritional intake to reach your goals.
    • Individual Consultation with one of our exercise physiologists to explain the science of training, what the results mean and how to apply this information to your weight loss goals
