MEC Toronto Race TWO: 5K / 10K / 15K

Route Description:

All races start at Coronation Park.  5K participants run 2.5km along the Martin Goodman Trail (MGT) and then return to the start area.  10K participants run 5km out the MGT and the return to the start area.  15K participants run 5km along the MGT and return to the start area, where 10 meters in front of the starting arch there will be a turning point (pylon with marshal) where you’ll loop and head back out the MGT for a 2.5km loop back to the finish.  The 15K completes the 10K AND 5K courses. 

5K = 2.5km out and back

10K = 5km out and back

15K = 5km out and back PLUS a 2.5km loop (Please note if you have not made the 15 loop at the start/finish area 10km into your run by 10:10am, and hour and ten minutes into the event you will be directed to finish your race at 10km.

As you approach the finish arch please stay to the right hand side ove the path as you sprint through the finish.  The 15K runners will be looping back out on the course on their first lap and we don't want any collisions.  Please see outline below.

Sunday, April 9th, 2017

  • Race-day registration begins at 8:00am and closes at 9:00am
  • 15K starts at 9:00am
  • 10K starts at 9:05am
  • 5K starts at 9:10am

Online registration is only $15

Registration increases to $25 CASH the day of the event. Online registration closes at 12:00pm (EST - Noon) on Thursday, April 6th.

*Note: If you wish to change your race distance, this will be accepted up until ONLINE registration closes (i.e. the Thursday prior to race-day)

Kit Pick-up:

  • Where: MEC Toronto (400 King St. West)
  • Friday, April 7th from 10am to 9pm
  • Saturday, April 8th from 10am to 5pm


Medals will be awarded to each 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers for each distance and gender. So make sure to put your speedy shoes on!

Safety Considerations:

The route is marshalled by MEC staff and volunteers, so please follow their instructions.

This path is open to the public, so keep to your right on the trail to allow cyclists and other path users to pass you. Check before overtaking another runner.

Bag Storage:

We do NOT have a secure bag store process.

  • MEC Toronto staff and volunteers are not responsible for any damaged, lost or stolen items
  • MEC Toronto staff and volunteers will NOT be able to hold any of your personal items


Please make sure that you budget enough time.  MEC encourages the use of bicycles or public transportation.  If you’re coming by car the best parking options are along Remembrance Drive, Ontario Place or at the Better Living Centre.

All water stations will be equipped with MEC's electrolyte partner nuun hydration. nuun is high in electrolytes, yet low in sugar to keep you optimally hydrated throughout your race.

Learn to run a fun and safe 5K over 10 weeks. You will learn techniques and skills necessary to confidently complete a 5K run. Tara, a very knowledgeable MEC Staffer will lead this run providing guidance and encouragement throughout each week.

This 10 week program is designed for the runner already comfortable with 5K, and are looking to push their 10K runs up a notch. Take an hour out of our Wednesday nights and join us for an engaging workout with an experienced clinic leader.

Meet-up Run

Monday night's from 6pm to 7pm.  This FREE meet-up runs between 5 and 7K.  Start the week off right!

Meet-up Run @ Lunch:

We've found a way that you can squeeze in your training within the tight hours of your lunch break. This FREE clinic begins and ends at the MEC Toronto location, generally completing 3 to 4km, with an experienced run leader. It's a great way to get to know your fellow MEC run community and did I mention it's FREE?!

Meet-up Trail Run:

Yet another free clinic, this meet-up run takes place within the beautiful scenery of Evergreen Brickworks. Meet us in the parking lot for a 5 to 8km trail run led by another one of our experienced run leaders. Considering trail runs are a little more challenging than the average road run, some experience is required.
