By the end of this clinic, participants will understand the added importance that winter conditions place on selecting appropriate equipment and receive an overview of the essential equipment required for cold weather comping and travelling including:

  • Clothing systems
  • Sleeping systems
  • Cooking systems
  • Personal safety gear
  • Trip planning

And understand some of the most basic considerations involved in choosing between various modes of travel including:

  • Hiking
  • Snowshoeing
  • Backcountry nordic skiing
  • AT skiing
  • Tele skiing
  • Split boarding

NOTE: This clinic will not address avalanche safety, except to highlight the importance of receiving avy training prior to entering avalanche terrain.

Street parking is available in the Downtown Biz district. Spend $10 or more in store after your clinic, and you will receive an hour worth of reimbursed parking in the Parkade on Ellice and Smith.
