Annual MEC Half Marathon & Runner's Expo 2017

Event Parking:

Parking for this event will be along Leslie Street, Unwin Drive and Commisioners Street. For over flow parking there is parking at by the Canadian Tire at Leslie and Lake Shore Blvd. Be prepared to walk a short while to the start of the race. Please drive with caution as there will be runners, family and friends in the area.

Bag Storage:

We do NOT have a secure bag store process.

  • MEC staff and volunteers are NOT responsible for any damaged, lost or stolen items
  • MEC staff and volunteers will NOT be available to hold any of your personal items

Safety Considerations:

The route is marshalled by MEC staff and volunteers, so please follow their instructions.

This path is open to the public, so keep to your right on the trail to allow cyclists and other path users to pass you. Check before overtaking another runner.


Help us keep our races green by bringing your own water bottle. (Compostable cups and on-site recycling and composting will also be provided.)

All races start at the entrance of Tommy Thompson Park/Leslie Spit. Each distance will begin at the same location, head out before looping back towards the finish line. The Half Marathoners will complete TWO laps of the course. 

5K = run 2.5km to the "5K Turn"; head back to the Start/Finish

10K = run 5km to the "10K Turn"; head back to the Start/Finish

21.2K = run out to the "10K Turn"; complete 550m dogleg; head up to S/F; REPEAT Note:  The course is open for three hours.  If you have not completed the first loop of the 21.1K course 90 minutes into the run you will be diverted to the finish.



Park visitors have reported finding ticks at Tommy Thompson Park.  This reinforces the importance of staying on the main path (race course) and performing a tick check following a visit to the park.  


Whether you are running in the race or not the expo is an opportunity that’s too good to miss for anyone interested in running and fitness. The 2017 MEC Race Four expo will be the biggest yet. Exhibitors get to present their latest products and services.  Some major athletic brands will be present as are a multitude of other exhibitors showing and selling everything nutrition bars to the latest niche products.
